Vice President, Community Programming

Chicago AMA Leadership Role Qualifications

Taking on a leadership role for our chapter is an honored privilege and responsibility to serve your fellow marketers in empowering their professional and personal development journey. Interested candidates should thoughtfully consider the qualifications and expectations guidelines for each leadership level and specific position scope before submitting their LinkedIn profile, resume and brief narrative on why they wish to be considered for the role.

These terms 
are an 18 month commitment, beginning in March 2016, and finishing in
 September 2017.

Vice President Level Qualifications

Vice Presidents are formal chapter officers and members of the Board of Directors for the Chicago AMA. The preferred candidate should possess proven executive leadership and management skills and served in a Director-level or above marketing role for an organization and/or founder for a business with combined industry experience of at least eighteen years. Individuals in these roles should be seasoned experts in their respective discipline, accomplished business strategists and comfortable managing large teams through influence and collaboration. He or she will have a capacity to spend an average of 8-10 hours per week and flexibility to attend morning and/or evening events as appropriate.

Director Level Qualifications

Directors are formal members of the Board of Directors for the Chicago AMA. The preferred candidate should possess proven senior leadership and management skills and served in an Associate Director-level or above marketing role for an organization and/or founder for a business with combined industry experience of at least twelve years. Individuals in these roles should be seasoned experts in their respective discipline, accomplished operational planners and comfortable managing large teams through influence and collaboration. He or she will have a capacity to spend an average of 5-8 hours per week and flexibility to attend morning and/or evening events as appropriate.

Associate Director Level Qualifications

Associate Directors are NOT formal members of the Board of Directors, rather serve as Junior Leadership Associates for the Chicago AMA. The ideal candidate should possess proven management skills and served in a Manager-level or above marketing role for an organization and/or founder for a business with combined industry experience of at least eight years. Individuals in these roles should have good working knowledge in their respective discipline, be highly adept executors and comfortable managing small teams through influence and collaboration. He or she will have a capacity to spend an average of 3-5 hours per week and flexibility to attend morning and/or evening events as appropriate.

Vice Chair Level Qualifications

Vice Chairs are NOT formal members of the Board of Directors, rather serve as Senior Leadership Associates for the Chicago AMA. The ideal candidate should possess proven executive leadership and management skills and served in a Director-level or above marketing role for an organization and/or founder for a business with combined industry experience of at least fifteen years. Individuals in these roles should exude gravitas, be highly adept program managers and comfortable managing large teams through influence and collaboration. He or she will have a capacity to spend an average of 5-8 hours per week during peak season and flexibility to attend morning and/or evening events as appropriate.

CAMA Leadership Role Expectations

All Chicago AMA Leaders are expected to represent the chapter as brand ambassadors throughout the Chicago marketing community and be the CEO of their position. Chapter Officer Board Members are elected and required to attend monthly board meetings along with other leadership sessions as determined by the chapter operations calendar. All chapter leadership position terms are typically one year in duration, beginning at the start of the fiscal year in July. If a leader is unable to complete his/her term of service, they are expected to notify the Executive Committee and help transition their responsibilities to the successor.
